Two Queens kayakers were rescued from the Long Island Sound Sunday after their vessel was flipped by a large wave, Suffolk County police said.

Jessica Strawn, 29, of Sunnyside, and Luis Rodriguez, 29, of Glendale, suffered minor injuries that included scratches and did not need to be taken to the hospital, police said.

They were found in the water at about 5:20 p.m. about three quarters of a mile offshore from Harbor Beach Road in Mount Sinai, police said.

Marine Bureau police officers John Vahey and Terry McGovern, who were on patrol, brought the pair and their 14-foot kayak aboard the Marine Delta and transported them to the dock at Harbor Beach Road, police said.

Police Sunday night said they did not know whether the wave was from a wake created by another boat. Police also did not know if the kayakers were wearing life vests.
