Long Island boy, 10, drives parents' SUV on William Floyd Parkway until tire blows, police say
A 10-year-old boy stole his parents' SUV on Tuesday and drove for 30 minutes before blowing a tire on the William Floyd Parkway, Suffolk County police said.
The unidentified minor was not injured but was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Officers from Suffolk’s Seventh Precinct responded at 4:15 p.m. to a report that the boy took his parents' Ford Expedition from a Briarcliff Road home in Shoreham, authorities said.
The child drove for about 30 minutes until a tire blew, disabling the SUV. The vehicle came to a halt on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, police said.
The incident is under investigation.
