Lake Grove crash fatally injures pedestrian, Suffolk cops say

A Lake Grove woman was hit and killed while crossing the street Thursday evening, Suffolk County police said.
Stephanie Semler, 51, was crossing Route 347 near Moriches Road about 5 p.m. when she was struck by a 2016 Honda Civic being driven westbound by a Nesconset woman, 25.
Semler was taken by the Stony Brook Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
The driver of the Honda stayed at the scene in Lake Grove and was not injured, police said. The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
Sixth squad detectives are investigating the crash, police said.
