Lake Ronkonkoma Beach in Islip Town, closed Tuesday to bathers because of high bacteria levels, has reopened, the Suffolk County Department of Health Services said.

The department announced Thursday the ban on swimming had been lifted in a news release, saying recent samples collected show the water quality to be within acceptable standards for bathing.

The release also said the Huntington Beach Community Association in Centerport remains closed for swimming.

Information on beach closures is available by calling 631-852-5822 or the department's Office of Ecology at 631-852-5760 during normal business hours. Beach information also is at suffolkcountyny.gov/health, under "Our Environment."
