A wind-driven fire damaged a home in Lake Ronkonkoma on Friday night, officials said.
The fire on Walter Drive was reported at 10:30 p.m. and was extinguished at 11:10 p.m., said John Martins, assistant chief of the Nesconset Fire Department.
The fire began on the second floor of the home and spread to the first. No one was hurt, and the blaze remains under investigation.
Aware of Friday’s strong winds, the firefighters purposefully kept as many windows and doors closed as possible, officials said.
Martins said authorities do not believe the start of the fire was criminal.
