Litigious land baron Robert Toussie has inflicted fiscal pain on Suffolk again.

Toussie is suing the county for $30 million for previously barring him from land auctions. He won a $23,124 judgment last week from federal Magistrate Arlene Lindsay because of the county's delays in turning over email records to his lawyers. This comes after the county spent $1.4 million to develop a system to recover emails.

Lindsay ruled the county showed a "lack of diligence" -- first when attorneys said they "could not uncover more than two emails," and later when they failed to save documents during the lawsuit. Ultimately about 2,200 emails were produced.-- Rick Brand
