There will be brief, sporadic daily lane closings on Route 114 in East Hampton and Route 27 in Southampton beginning Tuesday as work crews inspect and clean storm drains for about the next four weeks, the state Department of Transportation said.

The work will be done at 30 locations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on:

  • Route 114 at the northeast corner of Toilsome and Buell lanes in East Hampton.
  • Route 114 beneath the LIRR bridge east of Cove Hollow Road in East Hampton.
  • Route 27 between County Road 39A to Fairbanks Court in Southampton.

Officials said they would try to keep one lane open in each direction, but that could be reduced to one lane where the roads narrow, forcing eastbound and westbound traffic to alternate.
