When Randy Altschuler won his congressional primary last week, Suffolk GOP chairman John Jay LaValle was missing from the election victory - though he was in his office across the street. County Conservative Party chairman Edward Walsh, with LaValle earlier, introduced Altschuler to the crowd at the Holtsville campaign headquarters. LaValle, who once called Altschuler's effort "DOA," said he now fully supports him, and didn't get to the celebration only because GOP leaders around the state kept calling, "telling me I was right and they should have supported [Steve] Levy" for governor. - Rick Brand
