Suffolk Legis. Jack Eddington made it official Tuesday - he will not seek re-election this fall.

Eddington, 64, said he has accomplished his major goals in his five years in office, including improvements to Medford's Veterans Memorial Park, installation of sewers on East Main Street in Patchogue and the demolition of the former Plaza movie theater, slated for this spring.

The Medford lawmaker said he first told party leaders last March that he was thinking of stepping aside so he could have more time for his family. He said he has made no decision what to do next, but added, "When one door shuts, another one opens."
