Levy greets attendees at Zeldin fundraiser
Former Suffolk Executive Steve Levy surprised GOP activists by showing up at state Sen. Lee Zeldin's $100-a-ticket fundraiser last week. Levy stood by the entryway to the room in Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook, greeting people as if he were still in office, witnesses said.
Levy, a Republican, said Zeldin (R-Shirley) personally invited him, and that as a longtime supporter he felt "it was the right thing to do." Zeldin aides said about 200 attended. As Zeldin's guest, Levy did not have to pay. Levy also appeared earlier for a Brookhaven GOP breakfast fundraiser honoring ex-GOP leader and ex-con John Powell, among others. -- Rick Brand
