A jury in Central Islip has found a Colombian man guilty of trafficking tons of cocaine into the United States.

Carlos Arturo Patino Restrepo was convicted of three conspiracy counts Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Central Islip.

Prosecutors said he orchestrated the shipments of cocaine to the United States throughout the 1990s until shortly before his arrest in Colombia in 2007.

Thirteen co-conspirators testified against him during the two-week trial.

He faces a minimum of 10 years and a maximum of life in prison when he is sentenced. Authorities said a date has not been set.
