Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy may have labeled some of his college professors communists, but his former high school government teacher Jerry Kane recalls Levy to have been an "extreme liberal" as a teen.

"I used to call him my left-wing bed-wetting liberal hump," said Kane, who taught at Sachem High School for 25 years. He is now a Suffolk County Community College trustee.

Levy responded: "I always considered myself a moderate, but compared to Jerry, who is to the right of Attila the Hun, I can see how he would have that perspective." - Rick Brand
