An accident on the LIE eastbound from Exit 50 to 51 in Dix Hills involving multiple vehicles has been cleared and the roadway has been opened, according to Suffolk police and a state website.

Earlier, motorists heading westbound on the Long Island Expressway near exit 53 in Commack had encountered leftover delays from a police investigation of a multivehicle crash that has now been moved off the highway, Suffolk authorities said.
