Exit 49 off the Long Island Expressway in both directions will be closed nightly through Friday from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. so work can be performed on the aging Pinelawn Road bridge, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.

Motorists are being detoured to the LIE service roads.

These closures are due to repair work being on the bridge as part of a $5.5 million rehabilitation project.

Motorists are being warned in advance of the closings via electronic road signs, but should plan on using alternate routes to avoid delays, DOT said.

For real-time travel information, motorists should call 511 or visit 511NY.org, New York State's official traffic and travel information source.
