A 51-year-old woman was hospitalized late Sunday after her car fell on her foot while she was changing a tire at an exit on the Long Island Expressway, Suffolk County police said.

The woman, who was not identified by law enforcement, was changing a tire on the eastbound LIE off ramp at Exit 50 in Melville, police said. The car slipped off the jack, trapping her foot.

Second Precinct officers responded to the scene at 10:25 p.m., jacked the car up and removed her foot from under the vehicle, police said.

She was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
