Suffolk County police are investigating a serious two-vehicle head-on crash early Friday in Lindenhurst.

A department spokeswoman said the crash was at North Wellwood Avenue and Ithaca Street at about 12:15 a.m. and injured each of the vehicle’s drivers, one seriously.

Neither car had passengers, police said.

A man, 19, was driving an Acura RDX south on North Wellwood when he collided with a Ford Explorer that was traveling northbound on the roadway at the intersection of Ithaca Street.

The man had serious injuries; the condition of the driver of the Explorer, a woman, 29, was not immediately known, police said.

Each was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

Photographs from the scene show two vehicles, each with severely damaged front ends.
