Lindenhurst’s new website to be ‘virtual village hall’

The Village of Lindenhurst has launched a new website.
Work on the website, as well as its design was donated by Efferent Media, a digital marketing agency located in the village.
Residents have long complained about the village’s previous official website, noting the labyrinth of mouse clicks necessary to get to limited information, as well as a lack of updates stretching months at a time.
“We know that it has been a long time coming, but we wanted to be sure that it was a vast upgrade over our previous website, as well as much more user-friendly,” Mayor Tom Brennan said in a statement.
The new website, villageoflindenhurstny.gov, has event and meeting calendars, online forms and permit information.
Village officials said the website will make it easier for residents to find information about meetings and events, as well as contact the village with concerns.
They also can now download various forms and documents. Deputy Mayor Michael Lavorata said in a statement that officials hope the public will use the site “as a virtual Village Hall.”
The previous website was operated by an outside consultant, making updates difficult, said village Clerk-Treasurer Shawn Cullinane. The new website will be updated “almost on a daily basis” he said and will be done in-house by Katherine McCaffrey, assistant to the mayor.
