Amityville woman, 21, killed in crash off Sunrise Highway, police say
A 21-year-old woman riding in the front passenger seat of a sedan died after an SUV struck the vehicle in Lindenhurst Monday night, Suffolk police said.
Emely Tejada, 21, of Amityville, was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said.
She had been riding in a 2009 Toyota sedan that was headed west on Sunrise Highway, then turned left onto southbound Straight Path when it was hit by a 2020 Honda SUV at about 11 p.m., according to police. Tejada was sitting on the side of the sedan directly hit by the other car.
The Toyota driver and another passenger suffered non-serious injuries and were taken to local hospitals, police said. The Honda driver and a passenger escaped injury.
