Riders on the Long Island Rail Road's Babylon branch can rest a little easier about the evening commute, as earlier delays on that branch have been resolved and trains are running on or close to schedule, according to the railroad.
A broken rail east of the Amityville station had caused delays in both directions earlier in the day.
The break was reported at 8:50 a.m., railroad spokesman Sam Zambuto said. He said work crews were expected to finish repairs about 11:30 a.m., but that was later extended to 12:30 p.m., then 2 p.m.
The rail was fixed in time for rush hour.
