Repairs to close LIRR crossing in Central Islip all day

The North Peters Boulevard railroad track crossing, on the Long Island Rail Road's Mainline Branch in Central Islip, will be closed until 8 p.m. Thursday for repairs.
Islip Town officials recommend the following detours:
To travel southbound, from North Peters Boulevard head east on West Suffolk Avenue to Carleton Avenue. Turn right and head south to Brightside Avenue. Turn right and head west to North Peters Boulevard.
To travel northbound, from North Peters Boulevard head east on Brightside Avenue to Carleton Avenue. Turn left and head north to West Suffolk Avenue. Turn left and head west to North Peters Boulevard.
