Port Jefferson branch trains leaving Huntington Tuesday morning were experiencing delays of up to 10 minutes because of a broken rail, the Long Island Rail Road said.

The broken rail west of the Huntington station forced "single-tracking between Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor" as the rail was being repaired, the LIRR said in a service notice.

The service notice was issued in a 7:31 a.m. e-mail and posted at www.mta.info.

The commuter service did not say how long it would take to make the necessary repairs.
