An unauthorized person on the Long Island Rail Road tracks in St. James was struck and killed by a train Monday night, LIRR officials said.

The person, whose identity was not immediately released, was struck by an eastbound passenger train at 8 p.m., official said. The train was the 6:03 p.m. out of Hunters Point Avenue, which was due in to Port Jefferson at 8:15 p.m.

MTA police were investigating the accident, railroad official said.
