LIRR: Service resumes after person fatally struck by train near Pinelawn station
Long Island Rail Road east and westbound trains resumed running between Ronkonkoma and Farmingdale by midmorning Tuesday — though passengers were advised trips were still delayed by a quarter of an hour or so — after a person was struck and killed on the tracks near the Pinelawn station, according to officials.
Travel restarted at approximately 10:45 a.m.
This is the second day in a row that a train crash has killed what the LIRR says is an unauthorized person on the railroad tracks.
The collision on Tuesday morning earlier led the railroad to delay two trains from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma, beginning with the train that left New York City at 7:37 a.m.
