LIRR's Long Beach line on schedule after early delays
Switch problems caused 10- to 20-minute delays this morning on the Long Island Rail Road's Long Beach branch, but the website now is reporting good service.
The 8:03 a.m. train from Long Beach, due into Penn Station at 8:54 a.m., was canceled, spokesman Rich Mendelson said. Four other trains are up to 20 minutes late.
The problem was in the yard, Mendelson said.
"It's keeping trains from getting into position, and that's causing delays," " he said.
Mendelson said emergency crews were on scene, but said it was not immediately clear what caused the problem.
