LIRR train hits person near Patchogue
A person was struck by a Long Island Rail Road train with 50 passengers onboard at the Bay Avenue Crossing station near Patchogue on Friday night, officials said.
The 9:07 p.m. westbound train from Speonk was due at Jamaica station at 10:47 p.m. when the person was struck at Bay Avenue Crossing, the third crossing east of Patchogue Station, LIRR officials said.
The injured person was rushed to a hospital, officials said.
Meanwhile, the 8:53 p.m. train from Jamaica due at the Montauk train station at 11:57 p.m. is being held at the Patchogue station, officials said.
