A waterfront home in Lloyd Harbor, overlooking Huntington Bay, sustained significant fire damage Wednesday night despite the efforts of firefighters, who battled the blaze for almost two hours before getting the fire under control.

Police said the fire at the two-story home on Seacrest Drive was reported in a 911 call at 7:59 p.m.

Fire officials said about 85 firefighters and 10 trucks from Huntington, Halesite, Cold Spring Harbor, Huntington Manor, Centerport and Greenlawn responded to find an attached garage — and the second floor above it — engulfed.

Firefighters began “an aggressive attack” on the blaze under the direction of Huntington Chief Jesse Cukro, a department spokesman said. The residents were not home at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by Lloyd Harbor police and the Suffolk police Arson Squad.

Photos from the scene show the center section of the home — the garage and upper floor — gutted by the blaze.
