Two drivers were injured Thursday morning in a chain-reaction crash involving five vehicles on the westbound Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills, police said.

The driver of an 18-wheeler traveling in the right lane near Exit 50 at about 11:30 a.m. didn’t brake in time and rear-ended a Honda Accord, pushing it into the guardrail, a Suffolk County police spokeswoman said.

The Accord then hit another car, which struck a van, and the van struck a fifth vehicle, police said.

The drivers of the Accord and the car the Accord struck were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

There does not appear to be any criminality, police said.

The crash closed three lanes of the westbound LIE for about two hours, officials said.
