A mail carrier was injured in a crash that catapulted him through his truck's windshield in Lloyd Harbor Monday, village police said.

An Audi sedan hit the truck from behind and sent it into a tree on the side of Banbury Lane, Lloyd Harbor Police Sergeant Greg Muller said.

The mail carrier suffered "numerous injuries" in the 3 p.m. crash, which temporarily closed West Neck Road, and was taken to Huntington Hospital.

"He's alive and he's projected to make it," Muller said.

The mail carrier's name was not released.

Police said no criminality was suspected.
