An 87-year-old man, who told police he'd swerved to avoid an animal, lost control of his Honda Fit a and crashed into a home on Marshmallow Drive in Commack Wednesday, March 16, 2016, Suffolk County police said. Credit: Joseph C. Sperber

An 87-year-old man, who told police he’d swerved to avoid an animal, drove his Honda Fit into a home on Marshmallow Drive in Commack Wednesday night, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the man was not injured and was transported to Huntington Hospital for observation.

There were two people in the home on Marshmallow Drive. Neither was injured.

Police said the crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m.

The driver, who is from Farmingdale, said he attempted to avoid an animal in the road and lost control, police said.

Photos from the scene showed the car being removed from the house. The amount of damage was not immediately known.

No charges were filed as a result of the crash.

Members of the Commack Fire Department and Commack Ambulance also responded to the scene.
