Patricia Williams of Holbrook wanted to see for herself Reginald Ross, the man accused of killing her son.

"Today, I had to see that person's face," she said after Ross was arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip.

Ross, 33, of Lincoln Road in Yaphank, was arrested Tuesday by Suffolk police and federal marshals and charged with second-degree murder, prosecutors said.

He was ordered held without bail and is due back in court Friday.

A second assailant is being sought, prosecutors said.

John Williams, 39, of Holbrook, was shot to death near dawn on Oct. 14 as he sat in an idling car in the driveway of his Geery Avenue home, said Assistant District Attorney Robert Biancavilla.

"He was seated in his car waiting for his car to warm up. An individual tapped on the window . . . and shot him," Biancavilla said.

More than a dozen of Williams' relatives and friends were in arraignment court to support his parents.

Williams' father, John W. Williams, 65, of Holbrook, cried during the arraignment.

"My son was a wonderful person. He loved his family," Williams said afterward, wearing a photo of his son pinned to his shirt.

He said of Ross, "I want full justice if he's guilty."

Patricia Williams said, "I don't think he has a soul. There will never be closure for our family."

Biancavilla declined to comment on whether the victim knew the two men and said the investigation was ongoing.

He added that Ross was arrested while driving a vehicle that was connected to Williams' murder and a .45-caliber gun was found in that vehicle, but it was unclear if the gun was used in the shooting. The gun has been sent for testing, he said.

Ross' lawyer, Michael Brown of Central Islip, said his client "has denied any involvement." He said Ross has a job and two children. Ross lives in Queens, not Yaphank and does not own the car connected to Williams' shooting, Brown added.

Brown declined to comment on where Ross was arrested Tuesday.
