With the help of a police dog, Riverhead Police Sunday located and arrested a man they said had burgled an Osborne Avenue home.

With his police dog, one of the officers who responded to the call at 9:38 p.m. tracked and found Cristobal Cruz, 44, hiding directly behind the residence, police said.

Cruz, who shares the same address as the burgled residence, had in his possession items identified as having been taken, including a pocketbook and cash, police said.

Cruz was charged with burglary in the second degree, arraigned Monday in Riverhead Justice Court and ordered held on $2,500 bail/$5,000 bond. His next court date is August 9.
