Man charged in Westhampton Beach break-in
A 41-year-old Mastic man is being held on $25,000 bail after police arrested and charged him with robbing a pizza place in Westhampton Beach.
Westhampton police said Denis T. Stewart was arrested Friday following a two-month investigation into a burglary at Tonino's Pizza on County Road 31 on Nov. 18. Police said Stewart threw a rock through the front door, smashing the glass, then entered, broke into the cash register and removed $100 before fleeing.
He was arraigned in Westhampton Beach Court. Arraignment details were not immediately available Tuesday.
Police said they are investigating six similar incidents that occurred over the past year. They said none of those incidents has been tied to Stewart.
