Man charged with assault in Mattituck
A Mattituck man has been charged with assaulting a patron on Thanksgiving morning outside a bar, according to Southold Town Police.
Zachary Pileski, 21, of Elijahs Lane, was arrested on Thursday and charged with third-degree assault for allegedly punching Brendan Bishop, 29, in the parking lot outside the Broken Down Valise on Pike Street in Mattituck.
Police said Bishop, of Bray Avenue in Laurel, was involved in a fight with another man outside the bar when Pileski intervened. Pileski struck Bishop once in the face, causing him to lose consciousness and collapse face-first onto the pavement, officials said.
Bishop was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport.
Pileski was processed and released on an appearance ticket.
