Man charged with menacing driver in Huntington
A Huntington man faces charges of menacing and weapons possession after allegedly pointing a shotgun at the face of a limousine driver last week near his Park Avenue home, Suffolk County police said.
Police said Timothy Hickey, 46, of 841 Park Ave., approached a U.S. Limousine Service limo on Oct. 12 at about 4 a.m. as the driver waited for a customer on Whitson Road near Park Avenue.
Hickey allegedly tapped the driver side window of the limo, asking the driver to roll it down. When the driver complied, police said Hickey put the shotgun into the driver's face, asking him why he was there.
Police said Hickey told the driver a police officer had recently given him an undeserved ticket and that there also was a man hiding in the bushes. Hickey also said he had a bullet for the police officer, the man in the bushes and the driver, police said.
The driver was able to convince Hickey to allow him to leave, police said.
An investigation by the Second Squad pinpointed Hickey as a suspect, and Sgt. Kevin McKeon of the precinct's patrol division observed Hickey outside his home, where he was arrested at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Police later found the shotgun and several rounds of ammunition at Hickey's home.
He is charged with menacing and criminal possession of a weapon. He was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
