Man dies after 2-car head-on crash in N. Lindenhurst, police say
A Lindenhurst man has died after the car he was driving hit another car head-on Friday evening in North Lindenhurst, Suffolk police said.
Police said Jennifer Ginexi, 23, of North Babylon was driving her 2013 Ford Fusion north on Wellwood Avenue when she was hit head-on by a 2013 Honda Civic driven by Karim Abouelfadl, 26. Police said the Civic entered the northbound lane just before the crash, which happened near Robbins Street.
Abouelfadl was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Ginexi was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with nonlife threatening injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
First Squad detectives are investigating. Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not been interviewed is asked to call 631-854-8152.
