Suffolk County detectives said a man was killed in East Patchogue on Friday night after he was struck by a car.

The victim, who police would not identify, was hit by a car traveling north on County Road 101 as he walked east near North Dunton Avenue about 8 p.m., police said.

The driver stayed at the scene and the victim was pronounced dead by a physician’s assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
