A Water Mill man was killed in a car crash early Saturday morning, Southampton Village Police said.

Police said at 2:37 a.m. they responded to a one-car crash on Flying Point Road near Route 27A in Southampton. Police said they found a driver and a passenger in a 1997 Toyota Avalon that was resting next to a tree.

The passenger, Jason H. Pollak, 24, of Water Mill, was taken to Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities used the "Jaws of Life" tool to remove the driver, Allison Jane Rydberg, 25 of Hampton Bays. She was sent to Southampton Hospital and then to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she is listed in "critical, but stable condition."

The Southampton Village Detectives Division and members of the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash, police said.

Witnesses are asked to call village police at 631-283-0056.
