A man was found dead in a fire that started late Thursday night at a Baywood home, Suffolk authorities said.

The blaze on Grant Avenue near Pine Aire Drive was reported about 10:20 p.m., according to officials from the county police and the county’s Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services department.

The Brentwood fire department led the battle against the flames, with help from East Brentwood, Bay Shore, North Babylon and Deer Park firefighters, authorities said.

One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation, fire and rescue officials said.

Arson detectives were called to the scene, authorities said. Other details were not immediately available.
