Police are trying to determine the identity of a man who was found stabbed to death Thursday morning in a wooded lot in Brentwood.

Suffolk County Police Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick, commander of the Homicide Squad, said the victim appears to be a Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s and said initial indications are that he died Wednesday night.

Fitzpatrick said additional details are pending an autopsy by the medical examiner's office.

The 911 call was received at 6:52 a.m., and the caller reported having found a dead body in a wooded lot adjacent to a house on Mayflower Avenue, police said.

Detectives urge anyone with information about the victim or the case to call police at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. Calls will be kept confidential.
