Suffolk County police said the pedestrian, a man, 63, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries after being hit about 9 p.m. as he crossed Clay Pitts Road just west of Cherub Court and Meredith Drive.

Gigi Franklin, 54, of Greenlawn, who was driving a 2012 Honda Odyssey that struck the man, remained at the scene, police said.

She was not injured and no charges are immediately pending.

Police said her vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Detectives ask anyone with more information to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
