The former Huntington man who was a passenger in his mother's Mercedes-Benz that his girlfriend drove through a home where two elderly women were sleeping was jailed in Brooklyn Thursday on an outstanding warrant, authorities said.

Daniel Sajewski, 23, was in Brooklyn Criminal Court in connection with a marijuana possession arrest when Judge Evelyn Laporte realized he had an open warrant for not completing his community service agreement in a prior case, court records show.

"You obviously have no respect for the court system," Laporte told Sajewski, who now lives in Brooklyn, before the judge sent him to Rikers Island, records show.

The case is not related to Monday's crash, in which police said Sophia Anderson, 21, plowed the 2003 cherry-red convertible through the Huntington home of sisters Helen Indiere, 96, and Virginia Bennert, 94, around 4:05 a.m. Neither sister was injured.

Anderson registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.30 percent -- nearly four times the legal limit of 0.08 percent, police said. Only Anderson was criminally charged in the crash. She was being held on $50,000 bail Thursday at Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead.

Sajewski has been arrested at least six times on unrelated charges, including sale of a controlled substance and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, records show.

His criminal record includes convictions for drug possession in Brooklyn in February 2010 and making a drug sale in the Town of Southampton in May 2009, records show. He was sentenced to 6 months' probation in the Southampton case and to time served in the Brooklyn case. His driver's license was suspended in both cases, records show.

Sajewski also received a conditional discharge stemming from a December 2011 arrest in Brooklyn for consuming alcohol on the subway, records show. A 2008 arrest in Manhattan is sealed, prosecutors said.

In Nassau County, he has two open cases: an August 2009 arrest on a charge of petty larceny and an October 2009 arrest on charges of drug possession, driving without a license and driving while using a cellphone, records show.

Sajewski's attorney said his client is trying to put his legal troubles behind him.

"He's been making some conscious efforts to turn his life around," said Carl Benincasa of Huntington. "That's what I'm trying to help him do."
