A man critically injured early New Year's Day after falling from a balcony at Huntington's new events showplace is now in stable condition, hospital officials said Tuesday.

Ryan Cleary, 23, of East Northport, fell about 15 feet from the balcony at the Paramount Theatre, police said. Cleary was airlifted by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center where he remains a patient.

Suffolk police said Tuesday that the accident is still under investigation.

Suffolk officers responding to Cleary's fall about 1 a.m. Sunday became involved in a confrontation with several people at the Paramount, police said, and three people were arrested and charged with obstructing governmental administration.

The management of the Paramount could not be reached for comment.

The Paramount, at 270 New York Ave., was for many years the site of the not-for-profit Inter Media Arts Center, but new owners renovated the building and opened it in September with an increase in seating capacity from about 600 to about 1,500.
