An 85-year-old man died and a 65-year-old man was injured in a two-car crash in Hauppauge on Friday evening, Suffolk police said.

Michael Santor of Smithtown was pronounced dead at 7:14 p.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown, police said.

Santor was driving east on Veterans Highway at 6:10 p.m., when he attempted a left turn at Spartan Lane, police said, and collided with a westbound car driven by Charlesworth Varlack of Coram.

Both men were taken by ambulance to St. Catherine.

Varlack sustained head and chest trauma, police said, but his injuries were not considered life threatening.

Fourth Squad detectives asked that anyone with information concerning the crash call them at 631-854-8452, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
