Man killed in Route 110 collision in Melville

A 44-year-old Huntington man died early Saturday when his car overturned following a collision with another car on Route 110 in Melville, Suffolk County police said.
Killed was Christopher Klan. He was driving a Chevrolet north on the highway and near Snyder Street passed a Subaru driven by Kenneth Swany, 21, of Dix Hills, police said.
The crash occurred at 3:36 a.m.
Klan's Chevrolet struck Swany's car as it passed, and both cars spun out of control and overturned. Klan's car ended up in the southbound lanes, police said.
Swany and a 21-year-old passenger in his vehicle were taken to Huntington Hospital, where they were treated and released. Klan was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician's assistant from the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detective ask that anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8239.
