Man killed making U-turn in W. Babylon
A Uniondale man on a drive with his brother and sister on Saturday was struck by another car while trying to make a U-turn in West Babylon and later died, Suffolk County police said.
During the U-turn, the driver, identified as Roosevelt Barclay, 60, was struck by a 2003 Ford van just before noon near the Southern State Parkway, police said.
"Witnesses told police it appeared Barclay was trying to head north on Straight Path from the southbound exit when the collision occurred," police said in a news release.
Barclay's brother, Winfred Barclay, 62, and his sister, Ethel Payne, 64, both of Queens, were admitted in stable condition to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said.
The driver who struck Barclay's vehicle, Glenn Munzer, 43, was treated at the scene.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Police said they are investigating.
