Man loses hand after accident at Deer Park furniture manufacturer
A worker cutting wood for cabinets at a Deer Park furniture manufacturing company severed his hand on a commercial saw and had to be airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center Thursday morning, Suffolk County police said.
Police identified the man as Carlos Garcia, but could not provide his age or residence.
Police said the accident occurred at the manufacturing business at 181 East Industry Court in Deer Park at 8:14 a.m. Garcia was working on a large, commercial saw when a blade caught in the wood, causing his hand to be severed, police said.
Garcia was in stable condition, the hospital said Thursday night.
