Man on mini-cycle hurt in Central Islip crash

A 19-year-old Brentwood man was seriously injured Monday when the mini-motorcycle he was riding collided with a minivan in Central Islip, police said.

Darrell Lowe Jr., of Whalen Court, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of head trauma and other injuries, Suffolk police said.

Sun Chi Chen, 40, of Hauppauge, was driving a 2010 Honda Odyssey west on Suffolk Avenue at 1:05 p.m., police said, when the two vehicles collided at the intersection of Oakland Avenue.

Chen was not injured, police said.

Third Squad detectives are investigating the crash and asked that anyone with information call them at 631-854-8352.
