The driver of this car was cut free using hydraulic tools after the vehicle crashed into a tree on Nichols Road. A man was rescued from his burning car Saturday night after it crashed into a tree in Centereach Saturday night, Suffolk police said.

The crash, at Nichols Road, just south of Portion Road, was reported at 9:15 p.m., police said.

Holtsville and Farmingville fire departments responded, officials said. The unidentified man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. There was no one else in the car.
