Suffolk County Police detectives say the individual in this surveillance image was involved in a bank robbery that occurred early Friday evening at the TD Bank branch, 474 Portion Rd., in Lake Ronkonkoma. Credit: Handout

Suffolk County police detectives are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the TD Bank branch in Lake Ronkonkoma.

A man entered the bank, at 474 Portion Rd., at 6:56 p.m. Friday and handed a teller a plastic bag while announcing a robbery and demanding cash. The teller complied and gave the man cash from the drawer. The man fled on foot westbound on Portion Road.

The man was described as being in his late 40s, about 6-foot-1, with black and gray hair, with dreadlocks, and a thin build. He was unshaven and wearing a beige sweater, brown pants and a dark baseball hat.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this robbery to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
