Man stopped in N. Babylon had 56 pounds of marijuana, police say
State Police said a Brooklyn man who was found with 56 pounds of marijuana, with a street value of $300,000, has been arrested on criminal drug possession charges after a traffic stop Thursday in North Babylon.
Troopers stopped Imran Passard, 29, of 1104 E. 58th St. for a vehicle and traffic violation at about 6 p.m., police said. Passard was driving west on the Southern State Parkway near the Belmont Avenue exit, police said.
Police said Passard at first tried to give a false name, but a license check revealed he was driving with a suspended license. An impound search of the vehicle yielded the marijuana, police said.
Passard is charged with criminal possession of marijuana, criminal impersonation and driving with a suspended license. He was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip.
